May We Introduce Ourselves?

We're Trinity Lutheran Church.

We're located at 46707 Shangri-La Drive Lexington Park, Maryland. As individuals, many of us are from the St. Mary’s County area, and others are from distant cities and states. Perhaps we have met you, but now as a church family we would like to meet you and your family.

Have we met before?

Have you heard of the award winning radio broadcast of "The Lutheran Hour." "The Lutheran Hour," is the oldest religious radio broadcast in our country and today it is broadcast throughout the world. This broadcast has given us a casual introduction to many people. Now we'd like to get you to know us as one of over 6,000 congregations in our church body.

What do we value?

Harmony, agreement, assent... we live and worship in Christian harmony and agreement. This doesn't mean that there is no diversity in our congregation—of course there is! But, as we gather together around Word and Sacrament, our differences are put away and we worship and serve as a Christian family. Unity, peace, understanding... we recognize that Jesus Christ lived and died so that we as His people can join together in a spirit of oneness in worship, service, and community.

We use the phrase, "Word and Sacrament, what does that mean?"

When you visit us in our house of worship, there are three pieces of furniture that will draw your attention. They are the baptismal font, the altar, and the pulpit.

Through Baptism, God adopts us as His children and makes us a part of His church. As a part of His family, we gather regularly around the altar for the Sacrament of Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper, The Eucharist). In this way we celebrate the presence of Christ in accordance with His own command and promise. At the same time we listen to the preaching of God's Word, given to us through the Holy Scriptures for growth, strength and comfort.

How can we serve you?

For a fuller understanding and appreciation of meaningful Christian living and a deeper Christian faith, there is a need for mutual growth and support in the Savior's teachings. For this reason stress is placed on searching the Scriptures through Bible classes and discussion groups for youth and adults in our congregation. The Christian learning process is as essential for the spiritual part of us as is food for the physical being. Emphasis is placed on well trained pastors and teachers, Bible based materials and diligent study of God's Word.

What can Trinity Lutheran Church do for you and your family?

Nothing... unless you let us know what your needs are! Following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, we, as a congregation are open and committed to serving you where you are today. We are here to share your joys as well as your sorrows. We're here to help you realize your potential in Jesus Christ.

How can you meet us in person?

Normally we gather for worship on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. Adult Bible classes and Sunday School meet at 9:30 a.m. During Sunday Services we offer nursery care for those families who wish to leave their infant through five year old children with our adult nursery attendant. Children are always welcome within worship as well!!

A word from the Pastor...

We welcome you to come worship with us. If you have no church home, if you're new in the area, if you just want to be among people who genuinely care about you–come worship with us. If you would like to know if Jesus Christ is still relevant, call me. I'll listen to you, answer your questions and try to offer some of God's solutions for today's world.

You are welcome here.
